The use of topology is a key skill you'll want to master in order to become a truly great 3d modeler. In this course, Topology Fundamentals in 3ds Max, you'll look at what topology is, how it is used, and the specific issues and solutions surrounding it. First, you will focus on analyzing varying types of topology and why you might use them. Then, you will explore how different modeling techniques impact topology and how to deal with problems such as kites and poles. Finally, you will learn about how to use topology for animation purposes. When you’re finished with this course, you will have a deeper understanding of how great 3d modelers work with topology, as well as best practices to use in your own modeling work. hi, guy, in this video what we are going to do is we are going to look at example of topology that have using in very different sinario
and for different purposes.I mentioned in the first clip, that whenever you want to create a model.you are gonnna think about is purpose.and that's what defined the topology on the model,simple as that, you never know what a topology to use unless you know what the model is for.and as a 3D artist or 3D modoler you are starting out or you are experienced, you obviously need to know your modeling for.you never just want to jump in, and start creating for the seek for it.it can be fun, but if you work on a project.you will have planed everything out before it anyway.and have a rough idea of the type of topology that could be used.I am just gonna move in now, and I am gonna be having a looking at our first model here.now in the first clip, we looked at spheres so we have different type of sphere with different topology, and obviously I explained the difference which is the each type of sphere.the last sphere had hexagon and pentagon shapes on the surface in a very similar mannar as a football.I'll look at examples as well.you can see just here, it's a modified, tweaked, polished version of that sphere basically.so it's a football, so you can see the principal stay true as you kind of go through that process and refine the model to be higher detail.Then I press F4, just to show the edges here.although it's quite high poly, you can see that we are still working with quads here all the way throughout the model. looking right way to the middle here, quads, quads,quads.all these edge, they kind of flow through in a nice manner. you can see here, these is no visible triangles. so this follows on from the first video as you can see.a lot of different hexagonal shapes on this sphere.like I just said, it's obvious, it's a football, you need the topology to be in the shape for this to work.

I am just gonna keep moving now, and I am gonna be having a looking at our first model here.

now in the first clip, we looked at spheres

so we have three different types of spheres with different topology and obviously I explained the various differences of each type of sphere.
